Baba Ramdev who never misses a chance to come into the limelight has once again raised eyeballs. In that report it was written that as per Govt. sources Baba Ramdev’s name is also there in the list of Padma Awards.
Padma Awards have become a joke. It is a way of honoring civilians in India. Firstly the person needs to be a civilian.
Baba Ramdev publicly makes a statement on a Congress leader having honeymoon with the wives of a specific caste, creates unnecessary rift between religions making irrelevant statements to protest a film, etc.
Saif Ali Khan was the controversial point last year with speculations about him being stripped off his Padma Award. Oh in case you aren’t aware, our Bollywood actor, Humshakals starrer Saif Ali Khan was awarded the Padma Shri Award in 2010.
The Padma Awards are to honor the civilians. Yes it is a matter of honor and pride. Bharat Ratna being the highest civilian Award, the immediate next is the Padma Award.

Padma Vibhushan award is the second highest civilian award in the country. It is given for ‘exceptional and distinguished service’.
Padma Bhushan comes next and is given for distinguished service of a higher order and then finally comes the Padma Shri Award that is given for distinguished service.
So Saif Ali Khan was honored the Padma Shri in 2010…uhh exactly what was so distinguishing aspect about his acting? Not belittling his contributions but his contribution as an artist is nothing compared to many deserving artists in India.
For example do we even know about Nongmaithem Pahari – the famous singer from Manipur?
Public figures like Baba Ramdev anyways get enough publicity for right or wrong reasons…his opinions are a different debate altogether.
