Something really strange happened in Italy to leave the visitors of Viareggio Carnevale festival wide-eyed! Oh, to brief you about the carnival, it dates back to 19th century. “Carnevale di Viareggio” is a month-long festival which attracts thousands of visitors every year. The masquerade processions in this festival include spellbinding floats. The procession runs for 5 days in the festival which starts from the end of January and finished in the beginning of March.
This year, the visitors of Viareggio Carnevale witnessed a remarkable likeness with the U.S President Donald Trump with a life-size replica of the “God Emperor” character of the Warhammer 40K video games. The replica was accompanied with a ginormous Twitter sword and clawed hand. It was even animated to turn and shift as it moved through the procession.
In the interview with Heavy.com, the creator of the float, Fabrizio Galli said that the sword contains a phrase with hints at “Here’s your fucking tariffs”.
President Donald Trump infuriated many a countries with his evasive tariffs and people are leaving no opportune moment to vent their ire at him in whatever means possible. Of course featuring him in a float in Viareggio Carnevale was pretty unconventional way to scoff at him!
Fabrizio Galli seemed to be too vexed with Trump’s intention to destroy economies and to keep that flame of anger alive, he created this statue! He was quoted as saying. ” It’s a joke, but in fact he is trying to destroy nations with the economy instead of nuclear missiles.” he further added, ” This is one of the strongest actions, let’s say that powerful people like Trump can use”
If you visit the festival’s website, the float is titled as “The Master Drone”. More hilariously, President Trump is referred there as ‘God Emperor’. Galli went on to write in the website about his creation and he said, ” Donald wants to go back to the Moon, travel to Mars and create the first space army. Ultras Marines? Mega Marines? The time of intellectuals, philosophers and of old and worn culture is over. We have entered the era of fantasy, video games and virtual life”.
Well, perhaps Fabrizio’s purpose to sensationalise the news in social media is served. The ‘God Emperor Trump’ became a massive hit among the visitors and social media users world wide. However, it is going to attract a price and the makers are not least bit afraid to pay that. They came prepared to face backlashes as they knew that will be inevitable. Meanwhile, the Master Drone flies over the Viareggio Broadwalk!
