The US government was partially shut down for the first time in 17 years as a face-off between President Barack Obama and the congressional Republicans over Obamacare- the president’s flagship scheme to provide health insurance to those without cover. As a result of shut down, the non-emergency service staffs have been asked to go on leave without pay. Many government offices museums and national parks are closed as a result of which lakhs of government workers will not get their wages. Only emergency and necessary services will function.
