LGBT is not uncommon, it is there from ages in our society.
But we still do not know why it is considered a taboo. Many scriptures and folklore had previously featured same sex relationship but from past few centuries it is considered unnatural and sinful thing.
Media plays a huge role in bringing in transformation and this topic was under represented in media earlier.
Now that the wave of change has come, many media houses are pushing the boundaries of creativity hard to come up with concepts they breaking the mould and are promoting the ignored sect of the world. These ads, series, movies or any form of media act as great base to build the LGBT culture. No doubt that it will take time to imbibe them in Indian society but at least there’s a step taken.
Other channels are promoting social causes but MTV has taken huge leap by showcasing same sex relationship on Indian celluloid.
One of the greatest steps, this time, is taken by MTV’s latest TV Show called Big F with Bigg Boss fame Gautam Gulati.
The sixth episode of the show- I kissed a girl. Not only showed LGBT relationships but also featured one of the first lesbian romances which included a passionate lip lock between the protagonists.
This serial is about a tale of two lovers Sharmistha and Madhurima. The episode showcases how the one of the female protagonists is confused about her sexual orientation. The show’s tagline- Forbidden, Firsts. Fantasies, reveals what the matter one can expect.
