The Konkan Turtle Festival is one of the unique festivals celebrated in the month of March when the Olive Ridely turtles are newly hatched. This specie of turtles is an endangered one as of now.
Therefore to preserve them this special festival is going to take place at the Velas Beach near Ratnagiri, Maharashtra.
These newly hatched turtles all together take a march at the sea side during the Annual turtle festival. The main motive behind celebrating this festival is to help preserve and save the marine turtles who are suffering a high mortality rate across the globe due to many sea activities like shipping, trawling etc. They have been highly threatened by such human activities.
So, it’s again that time of the year when the dawn breaks down and with the numerous sunrays and lovely sunshine you can see many number of turtles hatched from the eggs and coming out of it, all together.
