For a very long time, Bollywood’s good girls have sported this look. Let’s not forget, these girls are the boring lot who have no thrill in their lives. They are the Sati Savitris with straight hair.
What ticks me off is that no woman can boast of such impeccably straight and primed hair in Indian conditions, which is humid and sweaty. Slight waves are bound to show up here and there, however straight your hair may be.
Why not experiment a bit in 2014? Why not go for quirky hairdos that will make you look smashing with minimum of efforts? Straight hair is snooze-worthy and is definitely one of the most dated styles. Basic changes:
If you’re a beginner and don’t want to drastically change your style, go for something like this…Diana Penty played ‘Meera’ (It’s a wonder they didn’t name her Savitri), a typical Miss Goody Two Shoes. To differentiate between her and her wild counterpart Deepika Padukone, the makers decided to give her straight tresses. But even such girls need to have some fun…like her hairdo at a promotional event. If you want to make a slight change to your hairstyle, go for the ‘twisty’. Either pull back a bit of hair from the front and twist it with pins and hair spray or use a particular partition to twist back your hair. It will give that edge without being too over the top.
Styling it differently:
This is one of the easiest things to do…that is, styling your hair differently. If you have hair like PeeCee with those impossibly crisp bangs, you can simply get the ‘gelled’ look with a little help from hair spray. Generously spray gel on your bangs and take them to one side and pin them up. Now give your hair that’s below the neck curls with iron and hair spray. This look works the best for parties and evening events. You would still be the good girl in this sexy, yet simple hairdo.
Braid it up! Another way to turn your hair into a less-straight variant is by going the braid route. You can opt for the simple no-fuss braid or the more complicated crimped version like Sonam Kapoor. You hair is the best for braids, so experiment as much as you can! Don’t ever feel that leaving your hair open is the end of the road for you.
Go completely messy:
Now that you have played it safe for a while, it’s time to go completely messy and wild. Experiment with curls, crimps, braids, messy wide curls and the like to choose a style that’s totally opposite to yours. Much like Deepika Padukone, who goes from Sati Savitri to Sexy Sandra in a jiffy!
