Many believe that fair skinned people have it easy when it comes to make-up. But it’s not true at all. They have their own issues as most fair skinned women have freckles and other acne that can mar their make-up. Most colours ill clash against their skin and make them look like clowns. So, here’s how can very fair girls get their make-up right. Read on!
#1 Colours to choose from:
Most fair skins are either warm toned or cool toned. The easiest way to determine which category you fall under is to check the underside of your wrist. If your veins are bluish or purple, you belong to the cool undertone. But if your veins are yellow to pale, you are part of the warm undertones. The colours that look smashing on cool skin tones are white, black, gray, bright pink, jewel tones, icy pastels, navy blue, and blue-toned red. On the other hand, warm skin tones look the best in orange, gold, olive, ivory, peach, light pink, aqua, and bright green. You can play around with these colours for your everyday as well party make-up.
#2 Foundation:
Remember that pale skinned women don’t need the foundation to make their skin look bright, but to even it out and give it a luminous glow. Go for tinted foundations in a base that’s closest to your skin. For example, if you’re more pink than yellow, go for a foundation with a pink base. You should only use the foundation as a base to give your face an even and glowing skin and not to cake it up. Use your fingers to finely blend the foundation in as that will make your skin look more natural. If you are too pale, go for a pink-based foundation…despite your skin tone being yellow. As the pink will give a bit of life to your skin.
#3 Blusher:
You must always use light tones and colours as dark shades can clash with your complexion. That’s why even your blusher needs to be cheery and elegant. Pinch your cheeks lightly and the colour that forms on your skin is the colour your blusher should be of. In general, muted shades like peaches, rose, warm gold, baby pink, mauve and cherry reds look the best on you. And if you must go bold, apply very little make-up as less is definitely more when it comes to your skin tone. If you must go dramatic, keep only one element bold and go nude on the rest of the face. That way, you’ll make a statement without being too garish.
#4 Eyes:
Once again, less drama…more natural is the mantra for you. Since your skin responds the best to warm shades like rose and baby pink, you should opt for kohl in browns and coppers and golds. Even grey, blue and purple will look great on you, if you’re more on the cooler side than warmer. Eye make-up will also depend on your eye colour as most fair skinned women have light eyes. And if you must go the smoky eyes route, skip your other make-up routine altogether. Just dab a bit of gloss on your lips and you should be fine! Let your eyes do all the talking. In fact, instead of opting for jet black, go for silver-black or copper-black eye shadow…they will lend depth and warmth to fair skin.
#5 Lips:
While oranges and hot pinks are the trend right now, they might look wee bit harsh on your skin tone. Unless you plan to go totally make-up free, bold lips can ruin your face. But if you must do bold, go for cheery reds or cherry reds that look great on rose/pink skins. While yellow skinned women can opt for brown or gold-based red. Let’s not forget that you can totally rock coral pink and peach like no other skin tone. Even mauves and silver-based purples look amazing on your skin.
