For a long time, matching your make-up with your outfit was considered one of the worst mistakes. Not anymore. These days, the trend is to go for make-up that’s co-ordinated with your outfit. Whether it’s the eyes, lips or cheeks, this new fad looks rather sexy. Here are some rules to follow while playing match-match. Read on:
Matching lips to outfit:
Think fun, bright and dazzling hues that will make your outfit pop. You can match your lips to either an accessory like a bracelet, bag or skirt; Or you can match it to the entire outfit to have a rocking appearance. Now that you’re going to highlight your lips and outfit, keep your face nude and eyes less dramatic so you won’t look like a clown. If your lips are bold, keep everything else minimal, including your shoes.
Matching eyes to outfit:
You have the option of matching your kohl pencil as well as your shadow when it comes to this segment. If the colours are basic and bold, like brown, black, midnight blue, charcoal, copper and grey, you can play up your eyes and match them to the outfit. Draw a neat line of grey kohl with a smidgen of black and match it your dress, skirt, shorts and so on. If the colours funkier, say, tangerines, pinks, yellows and fuschias, go for the shadow. Lightly dust your eyelids with a funky shade of yellow and orange (same colour palette) and match it to your outfit. But if your eyeshadow and kohl happens to be pale, go for rose-tinted lips. And if your eyes/eyeshadow are rose-based, go for pale lips. Remember, only one feature should stand out while matching your make-up with it.
Matching nails to outfit:
When matching your nails, go for a colour that belongs to the same colour family, but is not the exact same shade. As reds, pinks and purples tend to look different on the nails than your outfit, playing match-match will ruin your look. Instead, opt for a pink outfit and brink pink nails or tangerine outfit and neon orange nails, red outfit and brown nails and so on.
Remember that this is a trend that’s favoured by ramp models and actresses. If you’re not comfortable pulling this off, go for your usual tried and tested styles. And if you must experiment, start off with complimentary colours before going full out in the matching department. We hope you have fun trying these options at home!
