Be it building a home or building a society, women are naturally imbibed with the art of building strong relationships. It’s not long when women will be pioneers of the entrepreneurship field.
Only a few months back, Indira Nooyi, Pepsico CEO, talked about how difficult was her journey to be a CEO. Having it all is just an illusion that comes with painful sacrifices and tradeoffs. You have to cope, she said. For a very long time, I have noticed women to be far more sensible and sensitive than men. Be it building a home or building a society, women are naturally imbibed with the art of building strong relationships.
Entrepreneurship is tough, be it for a man or woman. But women definitely need to break that stereotype to make a mark on the industry. As a professional working in the entrepreneur industry, I have been observant towards the way women think and perceive their career.
Be it a woman who runs a catering business or a woman who wears attire designed by herself, patience is a virtue more found in women than men. And that, is the most required skill for a start up. What I don’t understand here is why do we have fewer women decision makers and entrepreneurs than men?
Why can she not pursue her dreams, career and take care of her family at the same time?
Why shouldn’t she grab the opportunity and make her dreams come real when she has the capability to?
If we contemplate on what Nooyi said, a woman has two options. Either she can give up her career and take care of the family or she can continue to be a career-oriented woman and turn bad in the eyes of her family. She is the sufferer in either case. While the functioning of a family is equally important as pursuing an individual’s dream, why can’t the work and responsibilities be divided between spouses.
A competitive spirit to win and be first in the race is what entrepreneurship demands. But it’s not long when women will be pioneers of the entrepreneurship field too. Chitra Gurnani of Thrillophilia, Richa Kar of Zivame, Shaheen Mistri of Teach For India are a few remarkable women entrepreneurs we have seen.
When it comes to personal relationships, women never give up easily. Well, that attitude of theirs can help an organization reach heights, if used in the field of commerce.
