What Do You Know About Pradosh Vrat and Lord Shiva?

Pradosh Vrat is the fasting dedicated to Lord Shiva and Parvati by their devotees. One of the popular rituals of the Hindu culture performed in different parts of India. It is on the 13th day of Krishna paksha and the Shukla paksha which is also known as the Trayodashi tithi.

According to their believes it is the day that Lord Shiva grants all the wishes of his devotees. For those who perform rituals on this day.
Followers and devotees from all parts of India perform rituals with fasting to please the Lord and accomplish their wishes. The wishes are to bring happiness and prosperity to the life of people.


Things devotees do on Pradosh Vrat

On this specific day, it is the devotees to keep fasting throughout the day. They perform the rituals in the evening time after a whole day of an empty stomach. After taking a bath early in the morning day begins to dedicate it to Lord Shiva.
Lord Shiva’s form of Nataraja is the idol which the devotees pray. Nataraja is the Hindu God devotees worship as the Lord of the dancers. The “God of dance” is known as Ananda tandava. Shiva performed Tandava after his beloved Sati died after she jumped into the fire. The Yagya was at Daksha’s place when his daughter Sati died when he denied accepting Shiva as her husband.


Out of Pain and anger, Lord Shiva broke down and performed the Tandava. This new face of anger and sadness was defined as the Nataraja. His other form of Nataraja was the “Ananda Tandavam” which he performed after Sati was reborn as Parvati.
It is a mystical belief that this Vrat helps in the prosperity of family and their members. Those who have problems in their family life. They can expect a better life after worshipping Lord Shiva and Parvati.

Rules of Vrat

All fasting in the Hindu religion are not similar at all; Each fasting has its own rules depending on the timings and the rituals offered to God. The specific rules to maintain in Pradosh Vrat are as follows:
Onions, garlic are considered non-vegan items in the Hindu religion. Hereby after the puja is over the devotees cannot have them. It is strictly restricted after the puja.
Focus on the Vrat, stay concentrated on the fasting and rituals.
Devotees should be wearing clean, washed clothes after bathing to perform rituals.
Finally, it is important to remember that fasting should be within the given period of the Trayodahi Tithi.

Devotees who successfully participate in the religious festival and dedicate themselves to the rituals will find themselves in the happiest stage of life. His personal life and family will be free from kinds of obstacles. With immense dedications, people will find their life to prosper. If devotees cannot arrange Pujan privately at home. They are free to join the Vrat in the Shiva Temples. On this specific day, all the Lord Shiva temples apart from the idol of Nataraja are worshipped. The holy fast observed in Nataraja Temples with hymns and chants all around creates a magical wonder for the devotees.
