Sad but true! The the Indian Grand Prix organisers have lowered their turnout projection for the Formula 1 race on Sunday. The organisers have told that only 55,000 seats are likely to be filled at the one lakh capacity Buddh International Circuit (BIC).
Going by his prediction, it is going to be lowest turnout in three editions held so far. A whopping 95,000 attended the inaugural race before the number came down to 65,000 last year.
“I am expecting that 50,000 tickets will be sold for the race. 5,000 to 7,000 passes have been distributed for our guests,” Jaypee Sports International CEO Sameer Gaur said at the BIC paddock here on Saturday.
With the Indian GP missing out next year, it seems that motor sport in India still has a long way to go. The Indian Grand Prix has been removed from the 2014 calendar but all stakeholders are confident of its return in 2015.
