This remote hamlet of Maharashtra faced scarcity of clean water. And with the help of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, people are now ready to fight the battle and the best part is that they have emerged victorious too.
35,000 litre water tank and many water pipelines were installed in the village and also this village boasts of clean area as well.
Swachh Bharat’s one of the major aims is to make Indian Open Defecation Free (ODF) by 2019. The main idea is to get toilets and sanitation facilities forever one. The work in this arena is in full swing. And many places like Churu, a district in Rajasthan will soon become the first district in the state to be ODF. And many places in West Bengal will too attain the tag.
We cannot miss the great achievement in Koraput area in Odisha which was considered as one of the most-backward districts of India is now ODF village and people in the district are now using pucca toilets.

Many Toilets and sanitation facilities were developed within a year. No doubt these numbers are small right now but definitely the campaign is going in right direction.
Areas like Madhya Pradesh have roped in third gender members as well in to the drive and this has yielded great results as well. Another great example is of Oontkar village where ladies have taken the onus of clean environment. Many gatherings and events are conducted by village women.
They have even composed song called ‘Mere ghar mein sauchalya banao piya jee’ (Please build a toilet in my house, my beloved). Isn’t that morale boosting?
Many private companies too like Dabur, TCS, Indian Oil and several others took pledge to support the mission. Many have donated crores to fund as well as built germ free toilets.
Massive cleanliness drives took place in these river banks. Major work is also taking place in River Ganges as Clean Ganga is also one of the major initiatives under this plan.
We hope that this campaign doesn’t lose it steam so that by 2019 we can achieve the dream of ‘Clean India’.v And to achieve this each and every one should come forward and make sure that they do their bit at individual level for the improvement.
