Recently print ad by Big Bazar created a furor on the internet.
The Hindi word for the offer was spelled wrong in the ad, and the whole internet trolled the ad left, right and center.
Ads we know how vital it is. It can make or break a brand easily but still some advertisers fall in controversies for their some silly and sometimes for their grave mistakes.
Here’s the list of some controversial print ads that got people talking:
1. Kalyan Jewellers’ ad campaign that featured Queen( Aishwarya Rai) and a slave received backlash and was asked to remove from further publications of the same.
2. Triumph, which is a famous lingerie brand, came into limelight when their “Father’s day” created a buzz for the misleading copy.
3. Reetone- a new brand campaign by Reebok stopped people in their tracks for their suggestive nature.
4. The Stuck on You Campaign by LEVIS, which featured Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut, caught everyone’s eyes. Reason ? These ads where models are skimpily dressed with shirtless male models are considered risque.
5. Ford-renowned car brand was embroiled in controversy when they published this ad. Many couldn’t digest the image justifying the tag line “Leave Your Worries behind” in the ad.
6. This ad of Maharaja Express had India’s map but the map shocked everyone as it was completely wrong. Delhi and Kolkata were shown outside India.
Advertisers must make sure that errors or misleading copies or overall ad should not hurt the sentiments of masses which in turn creates a bad image of the brand.
