If you are out of those kids who have hopped around most of the Indian cities due to the great transfer policies in different services of your parents then this post is something you will absolutely relate to.
Such children’s parents are mostly in army or in some government services.
New schools in every 4-5 years, new rented house whereever they go, entirely new city, everything is a part of the story of the life of these children. Even I hopped to around four different cities before having a base in Mumbai and it has been a great experience.
Being a part of new cities every now and then is totally their cup of tea and this has been pretty dicey yet adventurous.
By the time you are all grown up, you have numerous friends spread all around India.
So, when you read this post, it will take you back to the old times and make you feel nostalgic about the times when you used to struggle with the new place and then cry like a baby when the time came to move to the next destination.
Sneaking into a new place
Transfers meant shifting to new place or many a times it happens that you also have to go back to the same old place where you all started. The feeling is kind of mixed when you see things changed around you while you were away. But when you move to a new city with your parents, the new hopes and the new lifestyle you look forward to, fills you with a hell lot of excitement.
Shifting slog offs
This one was the hardest. When you had to shift to a new city there were days spent in gathering up all the stuff of yours and packing them up. The sweetest thing was when you used to find some amazing hidden stuff during this time and it made you feel all nostalgic.
Brand new schools
Changing schools was a very common part of such people’s life. Parents’ trying hard for us to get admission in the best school of the city was the major agenda. And then with all new zeal and hope we had the privilege to go to school in civil dress which was the best part. I could see many envious eyes around for that.
Adjustments of life
While moving to a new place was an exciting thing, the other comparisons also used to happen where the hardest part was to leave the city behind which was very close to you and of course leaving behind your beloved friends and school. I still remember how I cried my heart out when I left Jaipur in 10th grade. You adjust with these things and you also compare the types of houses you used to live in.
New connections around
Every new city helps you add a new story to your life experiences. You now have friends almost all around the country. You have different set of stories to tell people about every place and school.
So I really hope this post will surely leave you nostalgic and take you back to that lovely time when you got used to the changes around you and it made you strong!
