The man, who was once very close to former Congress Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao and was regarded by both Congress and BJP, is in news for his political misadventure.
The apple to the eye of Congress leaders – Rahul Gandhi – is awake. And he is talking!
Today, in the old-scribe-meets-terrorist-without-telling-government (or opposition) issue, Rahul told journalist that the scribe in question, Ved Pratap Vaidik, was an “RSS man” and that it was a “known fact”.
He dropped such important piece of information for the news channels and said, “We are curious to find out if Indian embassy has facilitated this event, if they helped this gentleman in any way.”
For the ignorant, we must shed light on the issue once again. Independent journalist Vadik was a part of delegation that went to Pakistan last month on an invitation from Regional Peace Institute, Islamabad, for an Indo-Pak bilateral dialogue, a Track 2 initiative.
The organization has Congress leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi hater Mani Shankar Aiyar on the board as one of the governors. The delegation included Salman Khurshid, another journalist Aakar Patel and many others.
While others returned after the three days visit, Vaidik choose to stay back in Pakistan for another two weeks. In the course of meeting other eminent people in the neighbouring country, which included Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Vaidik met the wanted terrorist and Jamat ud’ Da’wah chief Hafiz Saeed too.
Vaidik had no qualms in doing his PR, so he posted various photographs from his trip, including one with Saeed, on micro-blogging site twitter.
The Congress party took the opportunity by both hands and is now disrupting the Parliament proceedings despite government’s reply that it has “nothing to do with Vaidik-Saeed meet” and nor does it have any proximity with the freelance journalist.
The Congress keeps trying to connect the links between Vaidik and the current government being blood thirsty due to their decimation in the Lok Sabha elections.
First they presented the issue as “Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev’s aide meeting wanted terrorist Hafiz Saeed” given Baba Ramdev’s sympathy towards ruling BJP, then they tried to link him straight to the PMO. Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed gave quite an explanatory statement.
He said: “Vaidik belonged to the same organisation Vivekananda International Foundation, whose three members Nripendra Misra, PK Mishra and Ajit Doval are working for the Modi government as Principal Secretary, Additional Principal Secretary in PMO and as National Security Adviser. Now the fourth person, who also worked in the Foundation, Vaidik,… has met the most wanted terrorist in India, who is an accused in Mumbai terror strikes. A serious question arises. Did he go to meet Hafiz Saeed at the instruction of the Prime Minister? The Prime Minister and the government must come clean on it.”
Then Rahul Baba woke up from his nap in the parliament (given the FIFA world cup is over) and gave that “RSS” statement. Much to his dismay, RSS leader Ram Madhav denied it and said: “Vaidik saab has no relation with RSS. The person who roams around with Mani Shankar Aiyar and Salman Khurshid is not from RSS. In any case Hafiz Saeed is a terrorist. With regard to India he is a criminal. Whenever he comes to India, he will brought as a criminal under the Indian law and order system.”
In the meantime, Vaidik enjoyed the limelight and continues to do so. In words of Times Now editor Arnab Goswami, “everyone is watching” Vaidik, including the people “in forty-seven countries”. So what all the political parties have disowned him? He is wanted by all the channels envious of his reach to Saeed. They all are questioning him on the propriety of the matter but are refraining from questioning the freedom of press.
The man, who was once very close to former Congress Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao and was regarded by both Congress and BJP, is in news for his political misadventure.
The government is being dragged unnecessary in the mess and the opposition is enjoying the opportunity and lying thorugh its teeth.
And the terrorist in question is mocking our democracy.
