Atrocities on women, baffling state of the administration and communal clashes – these are the A, B, Cs of Akhilesh Yadav’s Uttar Pradesh with ‘M’ (Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Mainpuri, Meerut and Muslims) and ‘R’ (riots) being the most popular alphabet.
We are now tired of shaming the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.
We outraged, protested, demanded resignation, suggested President’s rule, but nothing changed in the sorry affairs of the state. Same Mulayam Singh Yadav and his old psycho-babbling clan issues nonsense lines every few days, the same police tries to hide its ineffectiveness and failure behind the brief statements of work in progress and the central government intervenes every now and then on virtually each and every matter of the state government.

Reports show that every clash started from a simple incident and was stretched into a communal tension due to presence of two communities. No one seems to be agreeing on amicable solutions.
While Muzaffarnagar riots started on the pretext of eve teasing, a false video claiming murder of Hindu boys and dozens of rapes by Muslims, the clashes in Mathura started due to use of water by a pedestrian meant for religious purpose. Saharnpur burned because Sikhs were rightly using their land for extension of Gurudwara and Muslims in huge numbers ran behind them with swords and guns because they had an objection.
The situation is becoming more grave by the day. Meerut is boiling now because a Hindu lady teacher of Madarsa was abducted, gang-raped, operated while on sedation to sell her body part (fallopian tube) and then was forced to change her religion by the Muslim accused.
The 20-year-old girl who used to teach Hindi and English in a madarsa in Kharkhaunda near Meerut, was reportedly kidnapped on 23 July and taken to a madarsa in Hapur and gangraped, and was being forced to convert to Islam. She was also shifted to madarsas in Garh Mukteshwar, Deoband and Muzaffarnagar, when she managed to escape and contact her family members.
The victim’s father claims that she saw 50 other women in captivity at the same place and that the perpetrators were planning on selling them to Sheikhs in Saudi Arabia.
An Indian Express report yesterday said that within a span of few days from when the Lok Sabha results were declared on May 16 till day before yesterday, over 600 incidents of communal clashes were recorded by the police.
Just look at the sheer number and try to absorb the shock. If it is ingested by your mind, try this – almost 60 percent of these incidences accord near the area where bypolls are to be held over the next few months.
MLAs at these 12 assembly seats contested the Lok Sabha elections and have become MPs. Polls to the vacant seats are due within six months.
According to IE, five of these seats — Saharanpur Nagar, Bijnor, Kairana, Thakurwada and Gautam Buddh Nagar — are in Western UP, where the largest number of 259 communal incidents were recorded. Fifty-three incidents took place in Awadh, where the Lucknow East assembly seat will go to polls.
In the Terai, Eastern UP and Bundelkhand regions, each of which is home to two of the 12 seats, 29, 16, and 6 incidents respectively were recorded.
Given the bitter loss of ruling SP in the Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav are trying their best not to attract any wrath of the minority community. But in doing so they are letting the state machinery fail completely and go I the hands of murderous goons.
The results are already showing. According to IE, which quoted a senior UP police official, the incidents “reveal how closely communities are keeping a watch on issues that have potential for communal clashes”. The loudspeakers of the Moradabad masjid have been returned to their original height. DIG, Moradabad Zone, Gulab Singh, said, “Even small issues like motorbike accidents involving Hindus and Muslims is leading to mobs gathering. No one seems willing to see reason.”
