Its ‘˜just arrived’ Modi vs ‘˜awaiting’ Rahul now

However lame Rahul Gandhi’s banter be, it is sentimental and we all know that the poor card always helps. Modi’s reach is only among the educated middle class and the business class.

Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi had been restricted to the role of ‘heir apparent’ for a long time by their party leaderships. While the former tried to breakaway and today was formally anointed as the prime ministerial candidate, the latter is still coying away from the obvious.

The war between them, as the whole world is saying, just got intensified. As for the fact, Gandhi junior is no match for experienced Modi.

Gujarat chief minister for 12 long years and holder of a brilliant four decade old political career, Modi, 62, was named BJP’s central poll campaign committee head in June this year. He has nonetheless worked hard for this position starting from a simple worker to Advani’s right hand to a state’s chief minister and now a prime ministerial candidate.

Rahul, 43, was made head of the Congress election coordination committee in November last year when he was trying to discover India and learning how to deliver speeches at public gatherings after five years of stint in politics. After a couple of months, he was appointed the vice president of Congress.

However, Rahul’s speeches have improved so far from being the same lines to lame lines, Modi has always been aggressive and thunderous in his approach scathing rhetoric. Rahul has only been paying attention to the social security schemes devised by his government to gain votes, and Modi has been focused on UPA bashing on a range of issues from corruption to economic crisis.

However lame Rahul Gandhi’s banter be, it is sentimental and we all know that the poor card always helps. Modi’s reach is only among the educated middle class and the business class.

Rahul is still to be declared a prime ministerial candidate by his party although he garnered support from senior party leaders including the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who said he would be more than happy to “serve” under him.

The juniors in the Congress call him the face of the youth but when it comes to popularity Modi wins hands down. Also, Rahul has always been refraining from taking over the responsibility and nobody knows when he will be ready.

Both the men are addressing mass rallies already and Modi’s anointment has made the game all the more interesting. The schedules are packed for this month for both.

Now who needs soap operas when we have got our daily dose of banter right here?
