There have been innumerous ceasefire violations by Pakistan on the border testing the patience of the Indian government and Army. Maybe a war is the best way to teach them a lesson.
Ten years ago, India and Pakistan had agreed a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) that divides Kashmir between the two countries. But the neighbours are exchanging mortars and shells once again on the disputed border.
There have been innumerous ceasefire violations by Pakistan on the border testing the patience of the Indian government and Army. The Army is learnt to have warned its Pakistani counterpart of an “effective, immediate and appropriate” response.
Given the situation where Pakistan has not held its fire, maybe Narendra Modi government should meet President Pranab Mukherjee with the Army and wage a war against our incorrigible neighbor.
Here are 10 reasons for doing so:
- Two women were killed in the shelling in Jaladi village in Samba while nearly two dozen people, including three BSF personnel, were injured as Pakistan continued shelling civilian population on the Indian side along the international border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu Kashmir since Tuesday night.
- So far, seven persons have been killed and nearly 70 injured in the escalation since October 1 with over 16,000 people migrating to safer areas in these districts. The casualty includes maximum number of women and children.
- There have been over two dozen ceasefire violations along Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir since October one.
- The continuous shelling from Pakistan has increased the infiltration susceptibility. In recent weeks, there have been threats from India-baiting militants in Pakistan like Syed Salahuddin that they would “flood Kashmir with fighters” once the US forces withdraw from Afghanistan in 2014. The al-Qaeda and IS are already trying to pull or put people in India. A war will put an end to it.
- The Pakistani army has always been jealous of the Indian growth. The rise of Modi has increased their fears and they want to project India essentially as “Hindu” country to claim their rightful existence in Pakistan. To think that they will ever stop creating trouble will be foolish.
- Pakistan is essentially an ideological state. It cares more about Islam than development, growth or anything else. For the same, the above mentioned reason comes again as handy for the Pakistani army. It sure does not want to lose its heroic status.
- C Christine Fair, who is an expert in South Asian military and strategic issues, has written a book, titled, Fighting to the End: The Pakistani Army’s Way of War. If one reads her book, one will realize that Kashmir is not an issue which will be solved in a year or two even when we have a dynamic personality like Narendra Modi as PM. And we have a living proof of it since we have witnessed the massacre by Pakistani troops over the years, including the Atal Bihari Vajpayee era. Pakistani army will again and again ready itself for a regular and long-term onslaught on India, Indian politicians, the Indian economy and everything Indian.
Maybe a war is the best way to teach them a lesson.
