Harshvardhan: BJP’s hope in Delhi

Harsh Vardhan has never lost a vidhan sabha election which is largely due to the credible work he has done on ground.

BJP has finally anointed former state health minister Harsh Vardhan as its chief ministerial candidate for the Delhi assembly polls.

The decision was taken following a meeting of the BJP’s parliamentary board which was attended, among others, by party president Rajnath Singh and senior leader L.K. Advani.

BJP may have taken a week to anoint Dr Harsh Vardhan as their chief minister candidate for Delhi, but the decision is better late than never.

Given the fact that Harsh Vardhan is respected for his clean image, BJP can now hope of meeting the challenge thrown by three time sitting CM Shiela Dikshit and anti-corruption crusader, Aam Aadmi Party’s Arvind Kejriwal.

The ENT surgeon, who is held in high regard among the medical as well as social faculty, has been the pioneer of the pulse polio campaign in Delhi which was copied and launched across the country.

Beating party’s earlier choice Vijay Goel was only too easy for him because he had backing of almost more than half of the party members.

As various poll surveys showed that BJP was gaining ground amidst ruling scam-hit Congress in Delhi, the party can now hope of emerging as the single largest party with Harsh Vardhan as their candidate.

TheDelhi assembly polls are due on December 4. The results will be announced on December 8.
