She remembered to issue an statement on the LoP position but forgot to answer all the questions posed on her for the innumerous scams that took place during the UPA government.
When the Budget Session started, Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s presence was quite a low key. With the decimation her party has faced in the Lok Sabha elections, it seems the cameras in the house too have discarded her. But that might serve her purpose as well. Afterall, who would want to be in limelight after such a humiliating defeat? And wasn’t that precisely the reason that the party elected Mallikarjun Kharge as the leader of the party in the house?
In addition to all this, the Lok Sabha speaker has categorically denied awarding the Leader of Opposition post to the Congress party which does not fill the required number of seats – 55 – to be worthy of it. The party has been fighting a cold war with the ruling party issuing only silly statements saying that they have a “right” over the LoP post and that they will challenge this in the court.
Mrs Gandhi has also broken her silence on the issue now. She told reporters outside Parliament that her party is “entitled’ to the post. PTI reported: “We are the single largest party. We have got a pre-poll alliance. Hence, we are entitled to Leader of Opposition’s post,” Gandhi, who is also CPP Chairperson, said in her first comments on the issue.
IANS added to this statement: Asked what action she would take if the government refused, Ms. Gandhi said, “Let’s see.”
Well, there is a famous saying in Hindi which aptly fits on Mrs Gandhi’s situation: “रसà¥à¤¸à¥€ जल गयी, पर बल नहीं गया.”
Mrs Gandhi, after indirectly manning the UPA government for past 10 years, have perhaps started to think that our country is ‘Jamindari’ left by her in-laws for her to use as she may please. In those 10 long years, not only she undermined the democratic fabric of the country, she also shattered the national economy.
The price rise that she and her party has been ruing about in the parliament and creating a ruckus instead of debating it, due to which the house was repeatedly adjourned too by the speaker, is a legacy of her UPA government. The C Rangarajan Committee on poverty, whose report is being mocked by the Congress party, was created by the UPA government itself. Not only that, it was her eminent party members who mocked poor and poverty by issuing statements like “food for Rs 12 and Rs 5”.
She remembered to issue an statement on the LoP position but forgot to answer all the questions posed on her for the innumerous scams that took place during the UPA government. She did not utter a single word on the National Herald Scam that she is directly involved in. For 10 years the price of essential goods and services shot up to the sky, but she did not say anything and, clearly, nor did her government do anything about it.
Till date, the country does not know about her health problem due to which she is frequently on foreign trip and on which the government has apparently been spending crores. She and her family has been treated in this country as an imperial family. No question can be asked on her holiness’ movement including her family’s.
But it is time Mrs Gandhi that you pack your bags and go.
