Having powered all of Nokia’s recent smartphone products, Microsoft may have acquired its mobile device business, but it seems Nokia which was once a monopoly, continues to be a bang in the market. While Samsung sticks to “making everyday grand” by introducing Galaxy Grand 2, we see which of the two could be better for you to use…
Screen size
While Lumia 1520 boasts of a 6” screen, with a soft plastic that is nice to hold, it has the same boxy but rounded shape as almost all of its Windows phone; perhaps resembling the Lumia 920. On the other hand, Grand 2 has a 5.3” screen with a slimmer body, which makes it more comfortable to grip. We recommend Grand 2 over Lumia 1520 if you have issues handling your phone.
Screen resolution
Lumia 1520 comes with the third live tile column in the start menu. The Third live column is introduced so as to support high resolution (full HD or 1080p) display. As usual, Nokia’s screen is gorgeous. Though it is much like many of Nokia’s Windows Phones, the 6-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS LCD quality is satisfying, with deep black and accurate colors. The Grand 2 offers a vivid HD screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio which turns watching movies and games into a never-before experience.

Battery life has always been a plus point for Nokia phones. Even the Lumia 1520 has got a great battery life and holds up well over a day even after heavy use. The Galaxy Grand 2 also being powered by a Qualcomm processor stands good while dealing with anything that the world throws at it and the battery ensures that it happens for a long time.
Camera
If you want a phone that helps you enhance your photography skills along with other features, you should totally go for the Lumia 1520. Though the 1520 does not have the 41 MP camera like Lumia 1020, it is a solid camera that appears to be a small step from the 8 MP camera of Grand 2. While the Grand 2 boasts of its Sound & Shot feature, that makes every picture talk, Lumia 1520 supports macro shots that come out particularly detailed.
Conclusion
Nokia has nailed it this time by launching Lumia 1520- the most powerful Windows phone in existence. But if you’re an experienced Android user, the transition might be difficult. Some of your patented apps may not be present as well. Games are particularly weak compared to Android phones. However, if you’re willing to try something new in this budget, the Lumia 1520 is worth trying. Else stick with something that ‘makes your everyday grand’.
