The recently launched Karbonn Titanium S99 is yet another example of a budgeted Android KitKat smartphone. However, its biggest rival is the versatile and trendy Moto E.
Titanium S99 is the latest offering from the house of Bangalore based smartphone manufacturer, Karbonn.
This new entry-level phone is the latest addition to the budget Android KitKat smartphone club.
Boasting of dual-SIM functionality, decent camera specs, and other modest features, Karbonn Titanium S99 directly competes with the likes of Motorola Moto E, Micromax Canvas Unite 2, Lava Iris X1, Xolo Q600s, Celkon Campus A35K, and several other smartphones produced by domestic vendors. We pit the new entrant with the enormously popular Moto E to see if the specs of Karbonn Titanium S99 are capable enough to stand against the rival brand.
Below is a sneak-peek on how the Titanium S99 fares in comparison with Moto E.
Design & Built
Available in black and white colors, Karbonn Titanium S99 offers a 4-inch form factor. On the other hand, Motorola Moto E features interchangeable back covers, called the Motorola shells, which come in vibrant colors and design combinations.
Features
While the Karbonn Titanium S99 sports a 4-inch IPS display, Moto E offers a slightly larger 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen with 540×960 pixels resolution.
The Titanium S99 derives its power from a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor paired with a paltry 512 MB of RAM. Meanwhile, Moto E comes loaded with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor with a healthy 1 GB of RAM. Both the devices run the same Android V4.4 KitKat OS.
Storage
Both the handsets bring on board an in-built memory of 4 GB which is expandable up to 32 GB with the help of a MicroSD card.
Camera
In the camera department, Titanium S99 ships with a primary 5 MP camera coupled with a VGA front-facing snapper. Moto E, on the other hand, poses a similar 5 MP rear camera, but lacks a front-facing shooter.
Connectivity
Connectivity options provided by Titanium S99 include Bluetooth, 3G, Wi-Fi, and GPS, and those offered by Moto E include Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, Bluetooth, and GPS.
Battery Life
Fueled by a 1980 mAh of battery, Moto E offers better battery life than Titanium S99 which houses a 1500 mAh battery unit.
Price Range
The price of Karbonn Titanium S99 is approximately INR 6,000, and the price of Motorola Moto E is around INR 7,000.
Considering the specs, Moto E is the clear winner, by virtue of its larger display, enhanced screen resolution, more RAM, and solid battery. The areas where Titanium S99 scores better than its competitor are front-facing snapper and faster processor. However, the final decision depends upon the user’s preference, style, and brand choice.
