At an event in New Delhi on 29th May 2014, Alcatel, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, announced the launch of its latest flagship, the Alcatel One Touch Idol X+.
Although the earlier models produced by the manufacturer couldn’t attract many customers in India, however, this device is bound to create a stir in the market, by virtue of its blazing-fast processor, decent display, outstanding design, and other power-packed configurations. With the launch of Alcatel One Touch Idol X+, the tech company introduces yet another octa-core phone in the mid-range segment and hopes to catch up in the Indian smartphone market in a big way.
The new Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ sports a brushed metallic finish, and is extremely lightweight at merely 125 grams. With a thickness profile of 8.1 mm, the phone brags of slim bezels, and showcases a premium build.
Featuring a 5-inch Full HD display, with 1080×1920 pixels resolution, and 441 ppi pixel density, the Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Under the hood ticks the incredible 2GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6592 chipset teamed with 2GB of RAM and ARM Mali450 GPU. The handset brings on board an in-built storage of 16 GB with no option for Micro SD card.
Other Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ features include Dual-SIM capability, 170-degree viewing angle, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, stereo FM radio, dual-speakers, and more.
Connectivity options offered by the phone include Bluetooth 4.0, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Direct and DLNA functionality, GPS/ A-GPS, and GRPS/ EDGE. Fueled by a 2,500 mAh battery, the phone offers 27 hours of talk time and 650 hours of standby time on 2G networks.
To attract shutterbugs and audiophiles, the handset boasts of great camera and audio features. Equipped with a 13.1 MP camera at the rear end, the phone also houses a 2 MP snapper at the front. While the primary camera flaunts functionalities, such as, autofocus, LED flash, video capturing at 1080p, the secondary camera enables easy video calling and clicking of selfies. The device also possesses a Hi-Fi chip which delivers high fidelity audio streams at 24 bit/192 KHz.
The price of Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ is approximately INR 16,999 in India.
Post June 3, the device is exclusively available on the online retail store, Flipkart. To make the deal enticing, the manufacturer is also offering free goodies with the phone, which include an Alcatel Boomband fitness tracker and JBL headphones.
With a slew of remarkable Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ specs, the smartphone will directly compete with the likes of Panasonic P81, Micromax Canvas Knight A350, and Gionee Elife E7 Mini. However, only time will tell whether this device is a worthy buy or not.
