There has been a lot of discussion about how couples sleep, their sleeping positions and the relationship analysis based on that. Well, to an extent it is true and quite meaningful too.
Sleeping positions has a lot to do with individual personalities too. For instance, if a person sleeps on their back, it often means they are strong and silent types. If someone sleeps on their stomach, it typically means they have an open, gregarious and playful personality.
Coming to the couples. So, what happens when you put two different sleeping styles together? Basically two individual personalities into one of the most intimate and vulnerable situations we humans, that is – a deep sleep.
I think it will be quite fascinating to discuss these 10 real sleeping positions and their meanings related to a couple and related to individual personalities too.
Well, in all actuality this position is only adopted by one fifth or say about or 18 percent of couples. This one demonstrates a relationship n which a partner displays a protective stance over other. Although this is ultra sweet but it can also be a little uncomfortable too. This is quite a vulnerable position but induces a sense of trust among partners. There are both kind of spooning. In the position where the woman’s buttocks are up against the guy’s man parts, it reveals maximum physical intimacy, a sense of security and trust. The spooning where a man in inside, signifies the man requires nurturing and attention from his woman. It could also mean that the woman plays a more dominant role in the relationship.
This is a common position when the relationship is too intense or it is just starting, in both the situations, the partners have hots for each other and they just want to be physically too close. In this one the partners are facing each other and hugging each other passionately. While this reveals a lot passion and desire for each other, this is most aptly called, lover’s knot too. This extremely intimate position is even rarer than the spoon. Usually, couples sleep like this after a good lovemaking session. Some couples maintain it throughout their relationship, but we’d say, this is not altogether a fab thing to do.
In this positions one’s head rests on the other’s shoulder. It means that the partner who is lending the shoulder pays attention to you and wants to be careful of your needs even when you’re asleep and the one who is resting on the shoulder is somewhat dependant on their partner. Well, this can be uncomfortable for the partner who is lending the shoulder, unless they are unconditionally in love.
In this position the partners are a bit more closer than the shingles, almost like a vertical hug, this means that the partner who has the arms outside is very protective and wants to provide the other with all the with comfort and safety that they can.
This one is seriously real and it actually happens when a relationship has been going on for a few years and the partners feel secure enough with each other. Then they start to sleep with a little space between them, but still maintain the emotional contact through a touch of a hand, leg or feet. This clearly means that they have developed a strong understanding for each other, you are independent but also ready to compromise when needed. And for the sleeping time, they put comfort above the emotional expression of love and bonding. Quite sensible there.
In this position the partners’ legs are entwined with each other while sleeping. The legs are entwined more from one partner’s side. This may be indicating that there is an emotional distance developing between the partners. It also shows that one of the partners needs to be more expressive. They are just holding back or maybe they’re waiting for the other to initiate things. There definitely is some friction that needs to be worked upon.
This position clearly denotes a lot of ups and downs in the relationship. It also says that the couple is having problems and one of both the partners is trying harder to fix them, than the other. If the couple is continuously sleeping in this position, this means that they are into a struggling relationship. They need to rethink.
Both the partners sleep facing outwards, with only their backs in contact. This positions shows that they are pretty comfortable with each other, the love is still going strong, while they still believe in looking away whenever the need be. The two partners are independent on their own and do not believe in suffocating the other, while still keeping the love alive.
If the two partners are continuously sleeping on the opposite ends of the bed, facing outwards then it means there is some distance in between, and they are suffering an emotional gap. They really need to spend some time together. But the catch here is, if this is just an occasional position, this could mean that the couple just needs a good night’s sleep and will be back to their usual position on other nights.
This is a combination of a lot of different positions and quite indicatively, none of them involve any intimacy. It clearly states that either the people involved are trying to run away from each other, partner or they’re too uncomfortable being with each other. Both the partners are limited to their own space on bed, taking the sleeping position which makes them comfortable to sleep. Well, this is a clear indication of serious issues in your relationship. Here, they need to act upon sensibly and make decisions.
Now, that we are done, you can assess your own sleeping position and understand the level of your relationship.
