What It Is Like To Be A Lesbian In India ?

Being gay or lesbian can be fine but it is equal to horror when it is in country like India.

Section 377 of the Indian Penal code criminalizes consensual sex between the same gender.

Whether it is legalized or not legalized, homosexuality is still a taboo in India which is a chronic quandary to the society.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to stay like a lesbian in India?

Problems the women face being lesbian in India – 

1. Problems in marriage proposal

Most of the lesbian couples in India are forced to live like a normal couple and straight individual, even if they don’t want to. However, most of the lesbian girls get marriage proposals on fair rates as some of them want to save you from, “lesbianism”, while some others want to fulfill their fantasy of getting married to a lesbian. Everything is abnormal but according to others, this is something which is very normal.

2. Lack of support from family:

Most of the parents in India do not support homosexuality and it looks like they will never be! Like it is said, parents are the biggest inspiration of a child but when a kid grows up to be a lesbian, it becomes a scary situation in India. They are been forced to marry a straight men and restrain from speaking about their lesbian behavior.

3. Lack of sensitization

If you have ever evaluated the vale of Indian society, you would realize that there is a lack of sensitization in the society. Growing like a lesbian in India has been looked upon as a deadly matter and the family is often disrespected. The society fails to accept their love and analyze the difference of their feelings from others.

4. Depressing

The only reason why we feel depressed and down every time is because there is no one who can understand your feeling. We pretend to be happy and behave like a straight girl because society will start hating you after knowing the lesbian portion in you. Because of the obsessiveness and pressurized culture, it is very difficult to face them and have the courage to speak the truth. Accepting the fact that there exists people of the different genre can make lives of a lesbian much easier.

5. Your life revolves around pretending and hiding.

Because the society is not ready to accept you, a life of a proud lesbian revolves around pretending and hiding your feeling. When you have a strong feeling for someone, you simply cannot manage to hide it and go beyond the force. It’s easy to hide for some time but you can’t hide it all the time. A lesbian does not fall for every girl, but there are few buddies who manage to give them butterflies in the stomach. However, at the end of the day, every lesbian is not only asked, but they are forced to love a straight guy. The problem is this mask can’t be affixed permanently.
