Gymming is the latest craze amongst the urban population, driven by the desire to look young and stay fit.
In this fashion and fitness conscious world, who doesn’t want to shed those extra kilos. Six-packs are everybody’s dream and people work extremely hard to achieve them. Spending hours in the gym, working out those weights, sweating like a horse and of course diet, together gives you the body of your dreams.
But have you ever wondered what this excessive, unnatural stress does to your body.
Gymming for sure helps us remain fit and healthy, but there are certain Side-Effects Of Gymming that one needs to be aware of and take precautions for in order to avoid injury beyond repair.
Gymming involves the use of heavy machinery to work on your muscles. Using weights and other tools for body building causes the muscles to take un-natural shape which cannot be maintained if you stop gymming. This can cause serious troubles in the long run. Also, it puts a lot of stress on the joints. Too much running on the treadmill is often associated with joint pains in the knees and ankles. It also affects the spine. Thus, make sure you are not over stressing your body.
Cardio is fun, burns that stingy fat and makes you sweat a lot, but what lies underneath the cardio session is an increased pulse. When your body does cardio exercises, it requires the heart to pump more and more blood to your body. Especially, to fulfill the need for extra oxygen, the heart has to work harder which causes the pulse to go pretty high. This can be dangerous for people who are suffering from certain diseases related to the heart and nervous system. Sudden splurge in the heart rate and inability of the body to control it in time may lead to serious hazards including risk of a heart attack.
A gym can easily be called a store house of all types of bacteria, fungi and germs. Since the machines are used by various people who all come to sweat their flabs away, it is very easy to catch infections or transferrable diseases (in case if someone carrying one is working in the gym). There are also certain skin infections related with sweating that are a common cause amongst the gymmers. Rashes, boils, acne are also commonly known skin troubles that people face.
A very common and widely known hazard of gymming is spinal injuries. Wrong way of exercises, excessive weights, skipping warm-up sessions, accidents, etc. are various causes of spinal injuries. Our spinal cord is the most important part of our body that controls various functions including motion. Spinal injuries can be in various forms like back pains, slip disc, etc., which can occur if not taken care of while exercising.
Those who take gymming and body building way too seriously, often indulge in taking protein and other dietary supplements for quick and visible results. Although, the results are promising, these artificial supplements affect our body in various good and bad ways. Hair loss, constipation, acne, prostate enlargement, are a few commonly known side effects of using body building supplements.
Hitting the gym and staying fit is a trend these days and if taken in the right spirit and given proper attention and care, gymming can prove to be a very effective way of staying healthy but it is very important to take utmost care and precautions. Proper guidance by certified trainers and most of all, listening to your body’s call as to how far to go, will keep you on the right track and away from any injuries.
