So girls, who doesn’t want dark, flowing, silky hair and flawless, glowing skin?
We all do, right?
But how many of us know that the secret to these do not lie in the over exorbitantly priced beauty products that we buy from the market and get fooled using them?
Well, ladies the secret of glowing skin and healthy hair is actually in a healthy body. Mere skin and hair cares products are not enough to get a beautiful hair and skin. Eating right things are necessary to have that.
Today, we bring you 10 foods for hair and skin to include in your daily diet (use them alternatively) to notice a striking change in the quality of your hair and skin!
Here you go:
Walnuts (Akhrot)
Among nuts, the case may be made that walnuts are king, as research shows they may boost your health and beauty in a number of ways at very easy-to-achieve “doses.” Walnuts are high in Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E which are both needed for smoother skin, brighter eyes and healthy hair. You don’t need to be munching on them all day either, just eat a little every day or sprinkle some on the salad or the desert you are eating, and see the benefits.
Almonds (Baadaam)
Almonds are rich in Vitamin E, a natural antioxidant that supports collagen production and provides anti-inflammatory benefits for the body. Almonds also contain a large amount of plant-based protein, rich in amino acids that are needed to support collagen growth and strengthen the body. Almonds are a great source of calcium, which provides nutritional support for our bones, hair, skin, teeth, and nails. Eat raw, organic almonds (avoid salting or roasting as it promotes cholesterol and acidity problems) as a healthy snack every day and witness the magic.
Avocados (Makhanphal or Butter Fruit)
Avocado is a green, pear-shaped fruit often called an “alligator pear.” It is loaded with healthy fats, fibre and various important nutrients. Easily available in your fruit market and rich, creamy and delicious, avocados are filled with monounsaturated fats, which are great for skin, hair and your nails. The good news is that avocados can be added to a variety of recipes and salads that you can easily make at home.
Wild Salmon (Saaman Machli)
There are hundreds of ways to enjoy salmon: grilled, baked, with salad or with pasta. Salmon is another great way to get your omega-3 fatty acids along with vitamin D and selenium, which helps to protect your skin from the sun. Go for wild salmon, if you can, because it has a far higher concentration of the goodness that your skin and hair needs. Salmon is easily available in your nearest fish market.
Sweet Potatoes (Shakarkand)
This inexpensive snack-fruit is readily available raw, steamed or roasted. Extremely delicious to eat, this natural treat is packed with nutrients too. Feed your skin and hair with all the vitamins that they need with sweet potatoes. A rich source of vitamins, including A, C and E, as well as having a high beta carotene content which helps brighten your eyes and protect your skin.
Blueberries (Kaala Jamun)
Plump, juicy, and sweet, with vibrant colours ranging from deep purple-blue to blue-black and highlighted by a silvery sheen called a bloom, blueberries are one of nature’s great treasures. Though miniature in size, they are also proof that, when it comes to nutrition, good things really do come in small packages. With 80 calories per cup, virtually no fat and low in sodium, blueberries offer many nutritional benefits. Not often thought of as a superfood, blueberries were actually ranked the number one food for antioxidants by the US Department of agriculture. Add a few to your cereal in the mornings or just enjoy some on their own to help you get that smooth skin and beautiful hair.
Spinach (Hara Paalak)
Not everybody’s favourite food, but one that is well known for its amazing health benefits. Rich in minerals and vitamins, as well as those all-important omega-3 fatty acids, try spinach as an alternative to lettuce in a salad. If it was good enough for Popeye, it’s good enough for us, right? Spinach recipes are easily available online and some of them are exceptionally mouth-watering. Spinach-corn sandwich is one of my personal favourites! And then, who doesn’t know palak-paneer in India?
Kale (Hari Gobhi)
Kale is one of the best foods that you can eat for health and beauty. Packed with vitamins and minerals, as well as omega-3 fatty acids. Try it as a part of a salad or steam it as an alternative green vegetable with rice or roti You must kale as one of the cruciferous vegetables you eat on a regular basis if you want to receive the fantastic skin and hair benefits benefits provided by the cruciferous vegetable family. Kale is one of the healthiest vegetables around and one way to be sure to enjoy the maximum nutrition and flavour from kale is to cook it properly. I recommend healthy steaming for 5 minutes. To ensure quick and even cooking, cut the leaves into 1/2″ slices and the stems into 1/4″ lengths. Let them sit for at least 5 minutes to enhance their health-promoting and beauty boosting qualities before steaming.
Tomatoes (Laal Tamaatar)
Don’t overlook the common tomato in your beautiful, healthy hair and flawless skin diet. Even cooked, it’s the best source of the anti-aging antioxidant lycopene that you can eat. Add tomato to a whole variety of easy salads that you can make at home. Cherry tomatoes are the best source of some crucial nutrients required for hair growth. The best part is that tomatoes are an everyday food in India and available in every food market at reasonable prices.
Yoghurt (Dahi/Shrikhand)
Who doesn’t know yoghurt? Our very own Dahi or Shrikhand which is readily available and can be prepared at home too. Mix yoghurt (hung curd) with fruits for breakfast or eat it as a healthy snack. Yoghurt has loads of calcium and is great for a healthy and glowing skin, as well as beautiful hair. It’s also good for helping to clear up a range of skin problems including acne, dandruff and more. A cup of yoghurt eaten daily is a miracle that you would be gifting to self.
So next time you go out to buy skin and hair care products and burn your pocket, take a detour to your grocery shop instead. Just a few changes to your diet can give you long lasting, shining, beautiful hair, flawless skin and glowing complexion a lot more at low cost, which better for you and your pocket too.
