It seems the stars of prime minister Manmohan Singh are not in an happy alliance. After Sanjaya Baru’s blow through his book The Accidental Prime Minister, former coal secretary PC Parakh is set to give a major embarrassment to Singh today.
Parakh’s book, titled ‘Crusader or Conspirator? Coalgate and otherTruths’ is releasing today. The book is about experiences of Parakh in UPA2 as coal secretary. It should be noted that Parakh’s work in Coal block allocation was highly praised by the CAG and yet his name appeared in the Coalgate FIR by the CBI.
Parakh’s book is expected to create higher waves and deeper ripples than Baru’s book as it gives eye opening first-hand account of what transpired in the coal ministry. The book has specifics on the conduct of big leaders like former Andhra CM NT Rama Rao, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, former coal minister Shibu Soren and others.
The book offers stunning details of blackmail and of bribes demanded by ministers in the UPA2 government – especially Dasari Narayana Rao who was minister of state for coal. There is far more in the book, all of which seems to confirm most allegations of widespread corruption in the UPA2 tenure.
The book is published by Delhi-based Manas Publications and comes at Rs 595 for the hardbound edition.
