You’ve got that silly misconception of this beautiful place. Daman, doesn’t receive its due share due to the crowd pull in Goa. But if you want a peaceful yet fun trip, head 180kms from Mumbai to Daman and witness a peaceful filled vacation.

Don’t go by the perception that it may be a village that lacks electricity and people may be walking long distances for water or maybe a place where Portuguese forts are broken down and spirits roaming around the place. You got your facts all wrong. We would suggest that you visit ‘Nani Daman’ and live for minimum a week and enjoy a week of blissfulness. NANI DAMAN JETTY ROLLS

Let’s start off the stay at this beautiful eatery place which faces the sea. It’s called Nani Daman Jetty and is famous for their mouth-watering jetty rolls and fruit salad milkshake. The jetty rolls is an item like the franky that we get in Mumbai but the taste is heaven. The fruit salad is had as a sweet dish after the jetty rolls and costs only Rs30. If you visit this place, grab your share of the rolls and milkshake, and walk upto the jetty. Sit and hog facing the sea to experience a pleasant evening.

JAMPORE BEACH

Just as Goa, Daman too is famous for its beaches. Out of the many, Jampore is the place to visit while at your stay in Daman. You would have to cross a bridge over the sea (which is a replica of North-South bridge of Goa) to witness the natural beauty. While relaxing under the shade of the local shacks set up along the beach, you can lick your fingers and indulge into some fried fish marinated in local Daman masala by the fisherwoman.

DEVKA BEACH

Most of the tourists are not aware of this beautiful and clean beach situated at Devka. While most people visit beaches to drive in the water and eat, locals visit this beach to meditate and pray to God. Along the beach, there is a step like structure where you can sit along with your friends and call for a jam-up session of singing and dancing or maybe even meditation and enjoy either the sunrise or the sunset at this silent yet mesmerizing beach.

MIRASOL WATER PARK

From Devka beach, you can head to Mirasol – a famous water park in Daman. This park is not only a treat to the younger ones but attracts people of all ages. Mirasol offers a toy train for not only kids but adults as well. Apart from the toy train, you bring out the child in you and set off for a boat ride. Whilst most people would consider this childish, sometimes it’s good to bring our the child in you to enjoy the small joys of life!

OUR LADY OF THE SEA

This church in Daman is the perfect example of beauty. The church is situated inside a broken down fort and is the favorite place of the local Catholics in the area to visit the Church for mass and sit for a chit-chat with their group of friends while the smallies play along. The Church too overlooks the sea and gives you a feeling of being in the midst of old Goa.

VEER-DA-DHABA

Want to indulge in some delicious Punjabi food along with the feel of sitting at a local dhaba? Then Veer-da-Dhaba has to be your next stop. A complete feel of a local dhaba along with mouth-watering dishes, the place also serves alcohol and hookah. Yes you read right Hookah! Although it is banned in Mumbai, you could enter into a food-orgasm while hogging on the dishes. Apart from this, you could also behave like a child and jump on the set up swings, slides and sea-saws for an afternoon filled with meals and enjoyment.
