Recently the uncrowning of Miss Columbia during Miss Universe pageant show was the talk of the town. The video showcasing the whole goof up by the host Steve Harvey broke the internet. He further attracted flak and trolls for  apologizing her on Twitter and also spelt her name wrong.

Well, this is not just one embarrassing moment in the history of pageants, previously many beauty pageants shows got extra lime light because of some controversy or other.

1. When Miss India Lakshmi Pandit Relinquished Crown For Wedding Lie.

She surrendered her crown as soon as the news of her alleged marriage to model Sidharth Misra came out in public. She revealed later that she gave wrong information about her marriage just to get accommodation in the city.

2. When Urvashi Rautela-Miss Universe India was dethroned because of age issue.

She won the crown as I am She- Miss Universe India in 2012 but was dethroned due to a controversy over her age. The first runner up Shilpa Singh replaced her.

3.  When Miss Universe 2002 was dethroned.

Miss Universe Oxana Fedorova’s journey after her win was not that great. From glory she landed up in controversy as there were rumors of her being pregnant. But  she officially resigned the title for personal reasons. She stated that mainly she wanted to finish her studies.

4. Racial Hate Messages For Miss America 2014 who was first Indian American crowned as Miss USA

Miss America 2014 after crowning received many racial hate messages and comments about her being a terrorist.She handled the over all scandal with grace and was garnered respect for the same.

She said ” The biggest thing I realized is that many of these remarks aren’t necessarily meant to be malicious but are simply a factor of ignorance, understanding everyone’s beliefs and backgrounds and finding that common ground so we can all communicate in an open, honest and respectful manner ,is something I’ve essentially been promoting my entire life.”

5.  Tara Connor- Miss USA 2006 is considered as poster child of ‘Controversial beauty queen ever’.

She was crowned as Miss USA in the year 2006 and soon after her win she was embroiled in many controversies. From illicit drug use to ill reputation for clubbing to kissing Miss Teen USA Katie Blair, after all these cases, she was on the verge of being dethroned but was allowed to preserve the title on the condition that she would enter rehab.

6.  Vanessa Williams first African American to held the title but ended in controversy.

This beauty created waves twice. First for becoming first Afro-American beauty queen and another for courting controversy. Her reining days soon ended when she was asked to give up the title as some unauthorized nude photos of her were surfaced.

7.  Miss Hispanic-America was arrested for Drug Trafficking and other crimes.

Laura Zuniga must be one of the happiest girls when she was crowned as Miss Hispanic America. But her glorious days soon ended when she was arrested along with her boyfriend for various heinous crimes like drug trafficking, weapons violations and money laundering.  Soon media dubbed her as Miss Narco.
