When Lord Mountbatten came to India to discussed about the plan for Indian independence, he debated this with four people independently. They were Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and MA Jinnah. Interestingly, all of them were Barrister.
It is said that almost 250 members of the 348-member strong Constituent Assembly, which drafted the Constitution of India, were lawyers.
So, lawyers dominated politics in India before independence.
