On the last day of her political campaigning for the Delhi assembly polls, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Monday criticised the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for “misleading people by telling lies”.
Without referring to Modi directly, the three-time chief minister said: “I have answers to all the claims made by the gentleman of Gujarat about it being the best served state.”
Dikshit said the Congress government would not have been elected had it destroyed the city – a charge often made by opposition parties.
“The opposition parties are misleading people by telling lies,” she said.
Dikshit reiterated the battle for the assembly will be between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, and dismissed the predictions of surveys of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that the Congress prospects were dim.
She listed the achievements of her government in 15 years and promised a “steady progress” if the Congress is voted back to power for the fourth time in a row.
Delhi will go to assembly polls Dec 4. Unlike previous bi-party contests, it will be a three-way battle with a-year-old AAP making its debut in the fray.
