Police Thursday pledged to provide “foolproof” security to BJP leader Narendra Modi when he visits Bihar over the weekend to meet families of those killed on the day of his rally here.
Additional Director General of Police S.K. Bhardawaj told IANS: “It will be a foolproof security for Modi in view of the threat perceptions.”
But the officer declined to disclose details, saying this would adversely impact on the security arrangements.
Another police officer said the Gujarat chief minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate would get “five-layered security”. He too declined to elaborate.
BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav said Modi would reach Patna Friday night and visit six villages spread across six districts by helicopter Saturday.
He will also go to the Patna Medical College and Hospital to meet the seriously injured. Twenty-three people who suffered multiple injuries are still undergoing treatment.
Six people were killed and more than 80 injured when half a dozen bombs exploded in Patna Sunday morning, most of them in and around the sprawling Gandhi Maidan where Modi later addressed a huge rally.
Most of the injured were activists or supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Modi will formally hand over a cheque of Rs.5 lakh to the next of kin of each blast victim.
