The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election, 2014 saw BJP getting plurality over its several adversaries. The Devendra Fadnavis-led party won 122 seats out of the maximum 145 seats needed for a majority.
Nevertheless, BJP did fair well and with Diwali just around the corner, this India n political party got another reason to celebrate.
On the occasion of Diwali, we would like to compare different political leaders from BJP to firecrackers sold in the Indian market and the impact they leave on people.
Narendra Modi (Rassi bomb)
You must be very well aware about the impact that a rassi bomb creates during blast. It is one of the loudest Diwali crackers and that is the bang that Narendra Modi generated during the election campaign five months ago. Although some elders do consider this firecracker as a nuisance, but what is Diwali without a loud bang?
Devendra Fadnavis (Rocket)
Just like this pyrotechnic firework, the current president of BJP’s Maharashtra unit has gone airborne to light up the moods of the locals. Just like the rocket needs a firm ground before it is shot in the air, Fadnavis received similar support under Bharatiya Janata Party. Thanks to his party’s win, Devendra is being considered as one of the frontrunners to become Maharashtra’s Chief Minister.
Amit Shah (Lawangi)
Just like lawangi, Amit Shah is one of the most popular names in the country. The current president of Bharatiya Janata Party, Shah, is the thread (vaat) holding the lawangis together, without which they would split.
Smriti Irani (12 Shots)
Smriti Irani is the perfect depiction of 12 shots that children love. She is not only an Indian politician, but has also worked in popular TV drama Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Besides that, she is also a producer and has worked as a model. Who can forget the music video she starred in for Mika Singh? Different characteristics, one person; the perfect depiction of 12 shots!
Sushma Swaraj (Flower Pot)
Sushma Swaraj, the BJP veteran, has experienced politics as one would desire. The only second woman to hold India’s external affairs office, she has been elected eleven times as the Member of Parliament. With close to four decades of experience in Indian politics, she has served Bharatiya Janata Party religiously and provided the brightness the party members desire, just like the flower pot firecracker offers the children.
Nitin Gadkari (Colour Sparkles)
Nitin Gadkari has stepped in as the Minister of Rural Development just when the Indian countryside needed its fair share of sparkle. Also the Minister of Transport, Gadkari is responsible for looking into construction of highways, roads and flyovers. His efforts could bring about a radical change in the lives of people residing in rural India.
Whether you are a BJP lover or a BJP hater, there is no denying that the party has strengthened its grip in Indian politics.
With the politicians’ personalities reflecting popular Diwali firecrackers, we can only hope they succeed in bringing light into the country’s future.
Here’s wishing everyone and happy, safe and blessed Diwali.
