Despite Punjab being a home to some of the world’s richest cultures, there has been a dearth about conflicting myths about Punjabis. And trust me, you feel like laughing your heart out when you listen to people saying that about Punjabis. We talk about a few such myths that need to be busted. Read on!
1. Punjabis can drink a galon of alcohol at a time
Get a life guys. They drink, because they can and because they’re full of life. Infact why don’t you try drinking like them? Maybe, you’ll stop ranting about half of things that way.
2. Punjabis have a funny accent all the time
So what if they call it Kannedda? Yes, their talking may tickle your funny bones at times, but there’s nothing funny about the accent when they’re talking about something serious.
3. Punjabis’ staple food is Butter Chicken and lassi
What? Don’t you love eating rice-sambhar or samosa chaat or vada pao or momos all the time? So do they. There are other things on the menu as well. They also eat paranthas. Chicken paratha, aaloo paratha, paneer parataha, gobi paratha, mooli paratha and plain paratha with a bountiful amount of desi ghee.
4. Punjabis are very loud
Really? How about watching our beloved PM talk on issues ever since he became the PM. Sounds exciting, does it not?
5. Punjabis are always happy
Hmm. Now that’s partly true. When they’re happy, they’re the sweetest. But when get angry, they can unearth a handpump out and kill the reason behind the anger. Don’t believe me? Ask Sunny Deol.
6. Punjabis hate non-Punjabis
Well, if that’s what you concluded after watching 2 States, then let me remind you, that the movie had a happy ending.
7. Punjabis have to be compulsorily blunt.
Just because Santa Banta jokes have been bringing a smile on your face, ever since they were launched, doesn’t mean that’s the reality. They’re sweet people who do not hesitate to speak.
