The actor, who was last seen in Lone Ranger is back after practically a gap of one year in Transcendence. The best part is that he’s not seen hiding under any of those whacky looks that he usually does in his films. Be it Tonto or Jack Sparrow, Depp is known for his penchant for such ‘unconventional’ avatars. But in Transcendence, he’s being plain himself, stepping into the shoes of an ambitious scientist with an illuminating ember in his belly to invent something that’s going to change the world.
Johnny has been promoting this ‘man vs technology’ flick all around. In fact, the actor who’s known for his cool sense of humour has been tackling questions thrown at him by journalists pretty well. So in a recent interview, when he was asked if he will ever resort to ‘artificial intelligence’, to which he came up with a quick rejoinder, “Since I am low on intelligence, artificial or real, anything will do.”

The other person who’s handling the whole promotional brouhaha in his own suave and stylish way is Morgan Freeman. When asked, if he supports the idea of technology having an upper hand in our lives, he said, “Obviously no, I don’t. And one of the sole reasons I don’t support we transforming into mere machines is that there will be no more sex.” The actor’s deadpan expression while he said that was an absolute icing on the cake.
Check out the trailer, it looks interesting. For Depp fans, who are also suckers for sci-fi tech movies – this is more or less like a double visual treat. The one thing that’s difficult to decide though when you watch the promo is – who’s side do we want to be on? Johnny’s side, who’s trying hard to endow the world with a path breaking invention or the anti-tech guys, who seem to have a point when they say that the human race will annihilated if artificial intelligence makes too much space for itself on this planet. You decide!
