We take a look at the actors who represented as the Dark Knight:
Morgan Freeman, who played a prominent role in ‘The Dark Knight’ series as Lucius Fox has come out in support of Ben Affleck. Freeman has also slammed the outcry over the actor playing the ‘new’ Caped Crusader. We take a look at actors who have represented the Dark Knight in the past:
Michael Keaton
Movies – Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992)
Rating – 3/5
Tim Burton’s ‘Batman’ turned out to be a superhit back when it was released. Starring Michael Keaton who plays the role of billionaire Bruce Wayne turns himself into ‘Batman’ when his parents are killed by Jack Napier a.k.a. The Joker played by Jack Nicholson. Keaton did justice to the character revealing the ‘dark side’ alongwith his rival, ‘Joker’ as the standout. In ‘Batman Returns’, Keaton’s love and hate relationship with the Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer) was also noteworthy.
Val Kilmer
Movie – Batman Forever (1995)
Rating – 2/5
Joel Schumacher’s ‘Batman Forever’ saw Val Kilmer revive the role of Batman. The movie also starred Nicole Kidman (Dr. Chase Meridian), Tommy Lee Jones (Harvey Dent/Two-Face) and Jim Carrey (Edward Nygma/The Riddler). Even though the movie was a success, Kilmer’s comeback as Batman did not go down well with the geeky ‘Batman comic’ lovers.
George Clooney
Movie – Batman and Robin (1997)
Rating – 0.5/5
This 1997 release saw Hollywood hunk George Clooney step forward as Batman with Chris O’Donnell as Robin. Arnold Schwarzenegger played Dr. Freeze, Uma Thurman played ‘Poison Ivy’ and Alicia Silverstone played ‘Batgirl’. The movie which was made out of a huge budget of 140 million dollars received bad reviews that included 11 nominations at the Razzie Awards. Clooney being one among many received criticism as Batman and since then hasn’t appeared in any superhero movie!
Movies – Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Rating – 4/5
After their debacle with ‘Batman and Robin’, Warner Bros. turned to Christopher Nolan to bring Batman back onscreen. Nolan, Christian Bale and Voila together, turned the movie into a big hit! More like a match made in heaven. The trilogy was a huge success and including Heath Ledger’s role as The Joker in the second part. Bale brought back the ‘Dark Knight’ the comic lovers would love to see on the big screen.
