World’s mega event – the FIFA World Cup 2014 is just days away from kickoff and one can hardly wait for it to start. 32 countries will compete with each other for a shot at the golden trophy and only one will succeed as the numero uno champion of the world. But as these countries slog it out, we take a look at some of the upcoming talent that are readying themselves to take on the big stage at the 2014 FIFA World Cup held in Brazil.
Paul Pogba, France
21-year old Paul Pogba joined Italian giants Juventus in 2012 after lack of starts at English club Manchester United. And since then the youngster has not looked as he landed two league titles with the Old Lady in his first two seasons in the Serie A. Pogba is a central midfielder who has an exceptional technique and has earned a status in Italy for scoring spectacular goals from long range. France needs them badly in this World Cup, if they are go through the finals.
Adnan Januzaj, Belgium
What a year this has been for the Adnan Januzaj! After a breakthrough campaign with England giants Manchester United, the 19-year-old winger was awarded with a surprise World Cup call-up into the Belgian World Cup squad. The slight, left-footed player can play either on the wing or centrally. Belgium has many creative players with the likes of Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku taking the centre stage but Januzaj can provide that ‘x-factor’ to the team this season.
Raheem Sterling, England
Liverpool’s fantastic EPL season was a result of its dazzling players and a one that includes 19-year old Raheem Sterling. A winger by berth, Sterling emerged as one of the stars of the Premier League season after scoring a number of crucial goals in Liverpool’s ultimately unsuccessful title bid. After an injury setback to Arsenal star Theo Walcott, Sterling will be looking to capitalise by making England’s right-wing berth his own. Watch out for his quick runs and cheeky passes in Brazil!
Serge Aurier, Ivory Coast
After Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna decided to leave, the London club are in a spot of bother on whether who could replace him. Enter, French club Toulouse’s defender Serge Aurier who was one of the breakthrough stars of the 2013-14 Ligue 1 season. The 21-year-old, scored six goals and contributed six assists during the league campaign, earning him a place in the Ligue 1 team of the year. The young defender knows that the eyes of the world are on him when he takes the stage in Brazil this June.
The FIFA World Cup 2014 might be about the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and company but here are a bunch of lads who will vie to make name for themselves and probably, the future stars in the making!
