After announcing record revenues of 433.2 million pounds, Manchester United football club were not finished yet.
After a torrid season last year, club chairman Ed Woodward along with manager Louis Van Gaal have worked hard and long to take the club at the pinnacle of glory.
The 2011-12 champions had a bonanza of a transfer window where they brought in new faces that were accomplished stars in their respective leagues.
Radamel Falcao, Angel Di Maria, Danny Blind, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo were some of the names that the Red Devils have purchased in this year’s transfer window that promises to be a good one for the Manchester United fans.
However, on the field, the Red Devils are yet to kick start their season. The Louis van Gaal revolution has begun on a turbulent note with mere two points from the opening three League games thus representing Man Utd’s worst start since 2007-08 season. However, things change in football pretty quickly and that’s what new signing Radamel Falcao is looking to add. The Colombian striker was signed from Monaco on an initial season-long loan with an option of a permanent deal, hours after the transfer window closed on September 1.
Upon his arrival, the hotshot forward has promised more goals and glories at the much celebrated Old Trafford. Speaking at the press conference at their unveiling Falcao said, “I am very happy to be here,” said Falcao. “I’m used to life in cities like this and I won’t have a problem adapting. It’s a big challenge for me and my career and I always dreamed to be in a club like Manchester United. I started to play two months ago with Monaco and I’ve improved in the last month and feel very good in myself.”
“I’ve scored goals and that is important for a striker. I am confident with my physical form and I am now comfortable with my knee. I’ve had a great welcome from everyone at the club. When you’re talking about a settling-in period, to be surrounded by quality players, real good footballers, and makes that period all the more easy and it’s something that I’m looking forward to.”
And surely he will.
With the additions of Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney and Angel Di Maria; surely Radamel Falcao can be an unstoppable machine once set in.
Even though Manchester United have sold their academy player Danny Welbeck to Arsenal, the arrivals of Falcao and Blind surely makes the Red Devils one of the hottest properties in Europe leave alone England!
