Swansea City striker, Miguel Perez Cuesta ‘Michu’ has been called up by Spain coach Vicente del Bosque for the last two World Cup qualifying matches. Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez was also included in the team.

Michu, has received his first ever call to replace the injured David Villa, who was forced to limp out of Atletico Madrid’s 2-1 win at home to Celta Vigo on Sunday with problems in his left ankle.

The 27-year-old was touted to get a of a national duty call up by many football pundits for around a year following his exceptional performances for Rayo Vallecano in the 2011-12 La Liga season when he scored 15 league goals in 37 appearances.

That seemed to go unnoticed as a move to the Barclays Premier League went on, where he netted 20 goals in 42 league matches as well as helping the Welsh side to win last season’s League Cup in his first season in English football. Michu’s call up comes because the paperwork allowing Atletico Madrid’s Brazilian born striker, Diego Costa to play for Spain still has not been completed.

So the hardwork is finally paid off for Michu who can now show off his skills onto the international stage!
