Nine years without a trophy could be painful for any club but for a club like Arsenal, the opportunity has come to end that hoodoo of no silverware.

Nine years without a trophy could be painful for any club but for a club like Arsenal, the opportunity has come to end that hoodoo of no silverware. Also, manager Arsene Wenger could give some parting shots at fellow gaffer Jose Mourinho after the latter had called Wenger a ‘specialist in failure’ earlier in the season. After a heartbreak in the 2011 League Cup final, the Arsenal players have learnt from the mistake as they get ready to take on Hull City in the FA Cup final on Saturday, we take a look at some of the players who could make the difference for the London club and their trophy drought:

Aaron Ramsey
‘The Man of the season’ for the Gunners, Aaron Ramsey transformed his play to a whole new level this year with goals from left, right and centre. The Welshman was revelation for them as they flourished under his presence. When Ramsey was injured after December, Arsenal lost the top spot in the Premier League and finished fourth in the league. But with the FA Cup to fight for, surely, Arsenal fans might be hoping for another grandeur performance from Ramsey.

Per Mertersacker
The German defender who scored in the semi-final of the FA Cup, will have to be his level best if Arsenal are to end their 9-year trophy drought. ‘BFG’ Per Mertersacker, too has been in great form this whole season for Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger will be hoping for his guidance and experience to guide some of the youngsters in the final.

Lukas Podolski
Another German winger who could make a difference for Arsenal. Lukas Podolski has a ‘powerful’ left-foot and when he hits the ball, it’s a must that the ball must be over the line. His strength and pace could be vital for the men in Red on the eve of the final at Wembley.

Olivier Giroud
The French forward Olivier Giroud has hardly started games in the FA Cup with the manager opting for youngster Yaya Sanogo. But if Arsenal is to win the trophy, Giroud is a viable option for them. Giroud is a powerful upfront with his ball control, heading and passing ability as well and that could be vital for the Gunners going into the key game.

Mesut Ozil
The record signing for Arsenal this year, Mesut Ozil transpired the whole club that included the players, manager and the fans alike. Since his record 42.5 million euros move from Real Madrid last August, Ozil has often got the stick from ex-players and pundits. The final can be a great opportunity for the German midfielder to prove them wrong.
