Brazil’s draw against Mexico last week was a stumbling block for the hosts despite the fact they remain on top of the Group A. The ‘Selecao’ go into the game against Cameroon with nothing but a victory as another blunder could cost them dear than the last fixture. With the two sides going head to head in Brasilia, here are the strengths and weaknesses:
Brazil:
Strengths – The hosts’ have one of the best attackers in the World Cup 2014 and is all set to unleash against a weakened Cameroon side. Luis Felipe Scolari has a selection headache as far as the midfield is concerned and could opt for more offensive players rather than defence.
Weakness – Besides Neymar, none of the forwards have impressed in the World Cup so far. Defenders need to step up the plate and avoid another catastrophe (like against Mexico)
Cameroon:
Strengths – With nothing to play for, Cameroon could play as ‘party spoilers’ for Brazil in this last group A encounter. With the likes of Samuel Eto’o in the attack, Brazil has to be wary of their African opponents.
Weakness – Division amongst the team members has grown strongly especially during their game against Croatia. Alex Song is suspended and his unavailability will be felt immensely. With yet another ouster from the World Cup, questions are raised about some of the professional stars in the side.
With Brazil playing on their home turf, the hosts can run riot over the sorry Cameroon.
