Table toppers Arsenal who are 14 games unbeaten on the road, face the Red Devils who will look to end the Gunners’ winning reign at the top of the league. We take a look at both the sides and see who holds the edge, going into the game:
Position: Goalkeeper – Arsenal
Even though Spaniard David De Gea has been brilliant for Manchester United in the previous two seasons, this year looks a bit shaky for him. De Gea has struggled to stop the goal leaks and his opposite number on Sunday, Pole Wojciech Szczesny has excelled. Even though the Pole has come under great criticism, this year, Wojciech has proved the critics wrong with a string of saves including that win at Borussia Dortmund.
Position: Defence – Arsenal
Arsenal were once considered weak at the back but how times have changed. The Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker pairing is starting to blossom at the back along with full-backs, Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs. Elsewhere at Old Trafford, since the 0-0 draw with Chelsea, Red Devils are yet to keep a clean sheet and the shaky back four were crumpled by teams like West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City.
Position: Midfield – Arsenal
Arsenal win the battle of the midfield just simply for 2 reasons – Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman Ramsey is tipped to be a serious contender for the PL Player of the Season (on current form) with 11 goals scored in all competitions. With the likes of Ozil, Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla in their ranks, Moyes’ midfield are still lacking that cutting edge besides Adnan Januzaj.
Position: Forward – Manchester United
Manchester United take the upper hand in this one with the likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez to bolster their ranks. Ex-Arsenal man will be the center of it again as he takes on his former employees. Arsenal are heavily relying on Olivier Giroud and him starting all the games, their substitutes bench only has Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner. Who will come out on top?
Final prediction: Arsenal, for the first time go into this tie as favourites with David Moyes only to have beaten Arsene Wenger (1) during his Everton days. 2-0 to Arsenal (not biased review)
