The Men’s football team are ranked lowly 150th in the world as far as the FIFA rankings are concerned but with our Indian footballers now coming to terms with the ISL (Indian Super League), there are chances that the rankings may improve very soon.
Let’s not forget, we have got a women’s team as well who are one step ahead of the men with the former ranked 50th in the world.
Now that’s a commendable achievement for a group women in this country who have no leagues, no drafts, no proper facilities, less pay but still kicking the ball on the field just for the pride of the nation.
If the Indian football was only about the I-league well here’s the face changer – ISL.
The inaugural season will be played from October 12 to December 20 in eight Indian cities with players like Robert Pires, David James, and Alessandro Del Piero amongst the biggest stars who will rub shoulders against the Indian rookies. That’s not it; these teams were bought by none other than Indian celebs like Abhishek Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan and John Abraham.
Truly, the Indian Super League will take Indian football to the every corner of the globe.
It won’t be as BIG as the English Premier League or the La Liga but an attempt none the less.
But just as the ISL is making waves and promoting ads on every street, few may know about our Indian talent. From the likes of Bhaichung Bhutia to Jeje Lalpekhlua of now, India is not short of talent.
One such name rising up amongst those is Abneet Bharti.
Indian-born Abneet Bharti will now be heading to the shores of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Spain to try out with Spanish outfit Real Valladolid as one of the scouted talents for their international youth project.
Abneet was born to Indian parents in Nepal but moved to Delhi at the age of 12 in 2010.
Since then the youngster has not looked back and has made giant strides in football by earning a youth contact in Singapore at the tender age of 13! But the youngster did have a trial in the country when he was called for the India U-16 camp for SAFF, but sadly things didn’t really work out.
With new vigour and determination, Abneet will try his luck at La Liga outfit Real Valladolid who have players like former Barcelona graduate Jeffren at their disposal.
Without a dount, Abneet will be a hit at the club and the academy.
In the recent years, many of our Indian players have displayed their abilities abroad amongst them being Indian goalie Subrata Paul, Brandon Fernandes, Yan Dhanda etc. Abneet is a versatile player and can play as defensive midfielder as well as used as a central defender.
With the FIFA U-17 World Cup to be hosted on Indian turf, the home side will surely won’t go down without a fight especially with these stars around!
