Straight from my grandma’s cookbook, these deep fried roundels of potato with a smack of spices will make for a crunchy, snacky evening option.

Serves: Two
What you need:
4 medium-sized potatoes
4 slices of bread
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp hing (asafoetida)
½ tsp aamchur (dry mango powder)
Salt to taste
Cooking oil for deep frying
How to make:
- Boil potatoes, remove skin and mash properly.
- Dip bread slices in water, squeeze out the water and mash with potatoes.
- Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, hing, aamchur and salt to the mix and combine well.
- Heat oil, enough for deep frying, in a skillet. Make roundels out of the mix. Deep fry till they turn reddish brown. Remove from heat and serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
