Cocktails that you MUST try!

Give your Long Islands, Bloody Marys and Sex on the beaches a break. They may be classics, but today’s the day to try out some funky cocktails that you might never have heard of.  Time to mix it up and get a bit tipsy…

 

Income Tax

 Don’t go by the uninspiring name, this cocktail will give you a better kick than your tax returns. Made with Gin, orange juice and Bitters, this is perfect for an instant punch. Don’t forget, it’s the bitters that elevate this drink. Whether you are under financial burden or not, this cool drink will set you up for the week.

Here’s how you make it- 

3/4 oz Gin
3/4 oz Rosso vermouth
3/4 oz dry vermouth
3/4 oz orange juice
1 dash Angostura bitters (It’s nothing but an alcoholic beverage that’s seasoned with herbal essence that lend it a bitter tase) 

Shake well over ice cubes in a shaker, strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and serve.

 

Monkey Gland

More than the interesting drink, it’s how it got its name that makes it a cool cocktail. When a surgeon assured men with ‘performance issues’ that injecting monkey testicles into them would enhance their ‘maleness’, this cocktail was born. It’s also a Gin-based drink , along with a splash of Absinthe in it.

Here’s how you make it:

1 part gin
1 part orange juice
Dash absinthe
Dash grenadine

Shake well over ice cubes in a shaker, strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and serve.

 

Pink Lady

No,no! It isn’t what women will dig. Because contrary to its dainty name, it’s a full on boozy drink that will hit you almost immediately. With generous amount of Gin and egg whites in it, it’s got the potential to knock you out. You might want skip this one for parties as it requires elaborate preparations. But when your closest pals are over at your place, make sure to whip this one out.

 

Here’s how you make it:

1.5 oz. Gin
4 dashes grenadine
1 egg white

Shake ingredients well with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry and serve.

 

 

Final Ward

With many strong ingredients, it doesn’t seem like it would work out in reality. But this peppy drink is one delicious beauty that’s bound to keep you in high spirits throughout. It’s just an advanced version of the equally strong ‘Last Ward’ and makes use of Rye Whiskey for that strong punch.

 

Here’s how to make it: 

¾ oz rye whiskey
¾ oz Green Chartreuse
¾ oz Maraschino
¾ oz lemon juice

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain in to a cocktail glass, and serve. 

 

 
5’O Clock In The Morning

No, we aren’t talking about T-Pain’s song. We are referring to a Vodka-based cocktail that can totally get you in the groove. You might not easily get this cocktail in bars, it’s quite obscure.

 

Here’s how to make it:

30 ml Vodka
1 part lemon juice
Dash absinthe
Smidgen of salt

 

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain in to a cocktail glass, and serve.
