Movies made for youth – Bollywood is known to make movies which are more or less run-of-the-mill stuff.
Either they are remakes of Hollywood flicks or straight copies of Southern cinema.
Hardly have we got to see some exciting original stuff that can not only entertain us but also give us something to take home in terms of life-lessons without even looking like a preachy session!
There are 5 movies which immediately come to mind that fall in the category of wholesome entertainment, and we so loved to watch them over and over again.
Let’s have a look at the movies made for youth –
1) Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
This Zoya Akhtar directorial is one of the best movies to have come out in a long time that not only showcases male-bonding, but also helps one to explore his or her inner self and subsequently their priorities in life. No doubt the glamour quotient of Indian Greek God, Hrithik Roshan and sexy Katrina Kaif helps to absorb the teachings of life in a comfortable manner. It is a must watch to be repeatedly seen to enjoy great Spanish locales, hear soulful music and watch terrific performances of all the actors.
2) Dil Chahta Hai
Released more than a decade back, DCH is still relevant for today’s generation. This was a movie that changed the face of Indian cinema in terms of how a movie should be made without any melodrama and showing characters which are so real and relatable. Kudos to Farhan Akhtar for giving us this gem talking so sincerely about friendship and love and freedom of choice! And yeah, that goatee of Aamir Khan which is still in vogue!
3) Highway
Imtiaz Ali is a director known for his road-movies, but this was not just a movie based on a road trip. How simplistically, he told the tale of a girl from the upper echelons of society falling in love with someone on the opposite end of it is simply marvellous. Tearing away the mask from the faces of so called guardians of society who themselves are rotten to the core and showing the gentleness and purity of soul of a criminal makes this flick not only entertaining, but meaningful as well.
4) Queen
Kangna Ranaut has walked away with all the accolades for her terrific performance, but it was not only about her portrayal of a girl trying to break free. It also said lots about our society and definitely gives a direction to all the women out there about how to try and perfectly balance the art of mixing culture with modernism. Terrific songs, great performances and a serious thought about women liberation told so simply and beautifully. Nothing can beat this gem!
5) Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani
Ranbir Kapoor starrer might not be up there in terms of a perfect script or perfect direction, but the complete package does make one wonder about the priorities in life. Obviously the chemistry between Ranbir and Deepika Padukone makes this a must watch, but a take of this kind on a subject like love is like a breath of fresh air! Numerous movies are made on love, yet this one stands out not just because of its songs and performances, but also the thought behind it. This should be watched on a loop!
These are the Movies made for youth – You can always start the New Year with some soul-searching with the help of such exciting flicks!
Enjoy a free-spirited life 🙂
