Bollywood is known for having mastered the art of double roles in movies with two and sometimes three people being exactly the look-alikes of each other playing different characters!

As they say, life imitates art and vice-versa, the Hindi film industry is also famous for finding and casting the look-alikes of reigning superstars in real life.

But what happens to those so called close look-alikes? Do they succeed or fade away in oblivion? We bring you some of the most famous look-alikes who arrived with a bang, but went out with a whimper!

1) Madhuri Dixit – Farheen

One of the most beautiful actresses of all times, Madhuri has had a lookalike, that too almost two decades ago and her name was Farheen! She was launched opposite current TV superstar Ronit Roy in Jaan Tere Naam, but her career never took off. One of the reasons was that she tried hard to be Madhuri instead of being herself.  Interesting fact is that Madhuri herself is considered a lookalike of yesteryear actress, Madhubala. However, both these actresses are poles apart in terms of acting, body language and the way they carry themselves. That’s the reason for Madhuri’s success!

2) Aishwarya Rai – Sneha Ullal

Who can forget the striking similarity between Aishwarya and Sneha who was launched opposite Aishwarya’s ex-love, Salman Khan in Lucky- No Time For Love? She is nowhere to be seen after the movie bombed and her beauty didn’t do any wonders for her career. It’s a different matter that she was a terrible actress as well. May be, she should have tried different looks so as not to be compared with Miss World!

3) Katrina Kaif- Zareen Khan – Elli Avram

Here comes another of Salman’s ex-girlfriend to be fortunate or unfortunate enough to see her look-alikes being launched right after she broke up with him! Zareen came and went without any impact and Elli is waiting in the wings to make a debut, even if a small one. Zareen tried to copy Kat and failed. Hope Elli maintains some originality if she has to succeed or she would be another ‘me too’ kinds who tried too hard to replace the original!

4) Hrithik Roshan – Harman Baweja

Harman made his debut with one of the costliest movies of its times, Love Story 2050 and the whole world noticed! No, not for his superb acting or great storyline, but for the fact that how much he walked, talked, looked and danced like the original Greek God of India, Hrithik Roshan! One wonders, why didn’t he try to be himself and paint an original picture of him rather than trying to copy someone who is a darling of millions? Clearly a foolish move!

These guys made the mistake of copying the original superstars and fell flat on their face instead of being different. However, there is one girl of today’s generation who is doing something special!

5) The Only Successful Look-alike Sonakshi Sinha – Reena Roy

From the moment Sonakshi Sinha made her debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabang, she has been constantly compared to yesteryear actress Reena Roy, who was at one point of time romantically linked with Sonakshi’s dad, Shatrughan Sinha! She does resemble her a lot, but Sonakshi is completely different in terms of her acting style and body language. She might have similar looks, but is a different person and that’s why she is succeeding!
