Voting in the single phase election in 28 Lok Sabha constituency of Bangalore saw a voter turnout of 56 per cent by the end of the day. But the letdown was Bangalore with only 50 percent voter turnout where Bangalore South saw 40 percent voter turnout, Bangalore North 37 percent and Bangalore Central a meager 36 percent by 5 pm.
Though parts of Bangalore South parliamentary constituency, where BJP leader Ananthakumar is pitted against Congress candidate Nandan Nilekani, former UIDAI chief, saw huge crowds outside polling booths in the morning. Reportedly, voters were seen queuing up outside the booths in Padmanabhanagar well before 7 am, the scheduled start of polling. Many booths in Hanumanthanagar and Uttarahalli recorded a good turnout since morning with voters, many of whom stood for more than half an hour, describing the early morning rush as “unusual”. The queues, however, appeared to come down after 11.30 am.
Meanwhile, Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT), which will print out the choice made by the voters, was also tried out in Bangalore South constituency with the officials displaying banners outside the booth to explain its working.
The low voter turnout in the city saw some serious outrage on twitter by the people and many thrashed Bangalorians for not casting their vote.

Bangalore again proved that it is the city with full of Engineers, voted 35%, same as they use to score in their exams to pass.

With 35%, the voter turn out in Bangalore is less than the Iron Maiden concert turnout in Palace Grounds. Shame on you haramkhoro.

With such a low voter turnout, it’s clear that majority of the hard working Bangaloreans voted for long weekend holiday trips
