Started from one party to another, these politicos surely know what they are up to as their ‘D-Day’ inches closer. Will that party be big enough for them? If their government is formed, what guarantee is that the leader will be given a higher seat?
Whatever the implications, we take a look at the leaders who switched sides for that extra push:
Bhagirath Prasad
It’s not the usual when a Congress leader joins a rival party and too, BJP. Congress was left red-faced when Bhagirath Prasad, a candidate for them from Madhya Pradesh, joined BJP. Bhagirath is a retired IAS officer and had contested the seat for Congress unsuccessfully during the 2009 elections. The reason for him jumping to BJP was that Congress is a divided house!
Alka Lamba
Another political leader who jumped out of the Congress bandwagon and joined the Arvind Kejriwal-led party AAP was Alka Lamba. 38-year old Lamba who was a former president of the National Students Union of India or NSUI, the Congress party’s student wing, had unsuccessfully contested assembly elections in 2003.
Suresh Kotadia
If BJP are touted to win this year’s elections, there is no harm placing a bet on them! Amongst the 80 Congress leaders including Suresh Kotadia, a son of former Union minister Manu Kotadia, left Congress for BJP in Rajkot recently. Kotadia was quoted in the Times of India as stating Congress ‘vision-less and its leaders are involved in infighting’.
Jagdambika Pal
65-year-old former senior Congress leader from Uttar Pradesh, Jagdambika Pal sent shockwaves amongst his ex-party hierarchy by putting down the papers. Pal who had worked for the Congress from the time of Indira Gandhi stated he was not being able to put forth his views and suggestions and there was a problem in communication with the leadership.
D Purandeswari
There seems no stopping leaders joining the BJP bandwagon as yet another Congress leader, D Purandeswari, a former Union minister and daughter of famous actor-politician NTR, quit the Sonia-led party to join the BJP over the Telangana issue. Purandeswari said that she wants to contest from the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat.
The above leaders have joined rival parties in wake of the Lok Sabha elections.
Indian citizens are vouching for a leader who can put an end to all those atrocities and especially corruption that has plagued this nation for years.
There might be a few who might NOT trust these politicos but voting is our right and one should shy away instantly.
But beware, vote for the right candidate and don’t let it go waste.
